Who are the customers?
Material is currently being copyright-cleared for the following Institutions for delivery in Sept/Oct 1999:

Workshops and Training sessions have been held with these institutions prior to the initial release of the HERON system.
HERON has been received positively at these trial sites and the testing will be extended to more institutions for delivery of course material in the New Year. Currently the list is as follows:

What are the licensing arrangements?
HERON licence - this has been drawn up by the lawyers and is now subject to final review by the HE Partners. The licence covers Rightsholders and HEIs. It is intended that this will be distributed during October 1999. All licences will reside with Blackwell Retail Ltd.
PLS/CLA mandate - this has now been signed by over 800 publishers and we understand that most have not excluded any works. Full details are still awaited from the PLS.
HERON/CLA licence- this is in draft format and awaiting comment from the CLA lawyer. This licence will also reside with Blackwell Retail Ltd.
